Man! Most of the male characters here have very small balls. Trying to burn a girl's hand out of jealousy, really? Calling them human scum is still way too generous. Radclift almost got my respect for a moment, but, nope! He's stupid as ever. Just like Challe said, rotten disciples came from a rotten teacher.

And no Jonas' redemption arc, please. This guy also deserves some punishment himself. While we are at it, please at least give all of those pricks the punishment they deserved. It has been long overdue already. How come there is no antagonist getting punished while the only guy who received a punishment so far is a dude who just wants to see his figurine waifu? What a BS is this?

ᗪonoᗪesu • 1 year ago

Wish Challe didn't stop when he said: "You Humans!!" :)

Leo Aestron • 1 year ago

Anne: Don't kill them!

Which means Anne probably wouldn't mind if Challe beat the shit out of them, right? Maybe he should've tried.

Ms Muffin • 1 year ago

Im glad he didnt given the unfair treatment of faeries in their world. would have been more hassle than its worth

Randall ShadowDork • 1 year ago

even if he did, Anne would have been in trouble

Nan Demo K(Nai)ves • 1 year ago

What's more messed up is that the person who actually hates the girl thought they were going too far but none of them who don't particularly have any feelings towards her didn't think to stop and think about what they were doing? The permanent repercussions it'd have on her? That was infuriating to watch.

Randall ShadowDork • 1 year ago

She treaded on there pride, as we learned that female sugar artisans are looked down upon cause of the false tale of how females fell in love with the fairy king.
So there small brains an micro pps were triggered an so when the plan to do grave harm to Anne came up they were like..... yup lets do it.

Helocat • 1 year ago

Yeah that's some harsh shit. Like break a thumb or two but why completely disfigure her hands? That said... we were shown that she couldn't move a mixing oar and while she may have gotten a bit stronger, how did she manage to resist several guys at her size? Between the really bad plot holes and needless drama, it's a shame that this anime turned out to be mid. Premise was somewhat cool.

MeguminExplosion • 1 year ago

Break an artist/artisans thumb or two? what? That would still cripple someone especially if their career required meticulous handiwork which sugar artisans are.

Helocat • 1 year ago

Yes and that was their intent. What I am saying is why go the extra mile to completely disfigure her hands to the extent that she might also find it hard to find a mate in the depicted society where Bridgette is seen as the typical subservient woman? Boiling sugar will likely result in 2nd and 3rd degree burns. Both actions are awful but breaking one or two thumbs does the goal the assailants were meant to do and while it may hinder her from her professional job, she will have an easier time finding some other venture or a husband.

Ka-chan | カッちゃん • 12 months ago

Really now? So now the gravity of abuse is measured by weather or not a woman is still kept functional for the proposes of men and you say they should have basically given thought to "not making her useless as wife material for their male peers" when they made their plans? Do you even hear how absolutely messed up that type of thinking is? That's literally "make sure your abuse is at least not getting in the way of misogynistic utilisation of the victim". What the bloody hell.....!

Helocat • 12 months ago

Um did you fail to read the word "depicted."

I called out the society for being misogynist. What I articulated was that their failed plan was really malicious because they KNEW disfiguring her would result in more damaging repercussions. I never insinuated or proclaimed that I ANY bodily harm is OK. Just that they went the extra mile to do more harm.

Randall ShadowDork • 1 year ago

Breaking the thumbs would stop her for but that was far too simple for these dumasses. They not only wanted to ruin her hand but also inflict the most amount of pain possible.
The burn would have been a constant reminder of what she would have lost an further destroy her than breaking her thumbs.
Plus they could have said that she did it to her self as was a workplace accident.

Ms Muffin • 1 year ago

humans dip into hidden strength when placed into dire situations such as the one she was in.

Pie Monger • 1 year ago

That's mostly only in stories. In reality, you likely have better odds of becoming a pro sports player. We don't live in a fantasy world after all with magic or special powers; other than the existence of fairies, we have yet to see any here either.

Let me notice that this sort of "human scum" male troupe might be there precisely for this effect - to position the main heroine a victim and make a contrast with the "noble, stoic fairy" male character, who is her love interest.

You are asking what is this? This is called emotional manipulation in the form of convenient, one-dimensional storytelling. The author just positions everyone as beneath (either in morals or intelligence) the main characters to cater to certain audience, a well as to make their story a convenient "bad people/good people"... fairy tale. If anything, this series is obsolete - its foundation is stuck somewhere in the 90s/00s and has not evolved a bit. Is it enjoyable? Definitely not for me. Is it bad? I won't be judging from just one season.

Pie Monger • 1 year ago

I thought that was the point of the story... it's a modern day ... classic fairy tale (time of release, not the time of the anime's setting). I believe it was intentional. It's also not as simple as good and bad people as you portray; Jonas is depicted as a bad guy, yet found there was even a line he wouldn't cross. The story isn't so black and white. Not to mention, virtually all stories portray elements of emotion. It gives stories depth.

While it may be simple, I find this story more enjoyable and a lot easier to follow than others which try too hard with background and world building or endless expositions that they overshadow the story, making ~30 minute episodes feel like 5 minutes of content and a bunch of fluff.

Alpha Luna • 8 months ago

As annoying as it was at first...and not that it isn't still...it's getting a bit similar to real life, isnt it? 😔

MeguminExplosion • 1 year ago

I mean radclift cant just take people's word lol. thats like if i ran up to a cop and said x dude killed someone. they need to investigate. To be fair, that was a meh example.

A better comparison is if a parent said your daughter or son committed a crime. you probably would be skeptical too instead of just go, oh yeah they definitely committed a crime.

Kozuki Momonosuke • 1 year ago

Have? They lack such whatsoever

Deus The Great • 1 year ago

I said that since episode 7, it seems the author tries to go that way, sadly Jonas will not receive the punishment he deserves but just some light punishment.

And also, i notices that the author afraid to kill off any characters despite the wars and attempt of killing involve to the story such as when fairy hunters tried to captured Challe, he almost kill them off but the same happened, someone intervened and let them off the hook.

Dominic_566X • 1 year ago

finally jonas did something actually and to burn a girls hands wtf is wrong with those people

Deus The Great • 1 year ago

Welcome to the redemption arc for Jonas 💀

Dominic_566X • 1 year ago

Randall ShadowDork • 1 year ago

Jack • 1 year ago

Well Jonas saves the day, but gets expelled XD!!! And to make it better no Drama getting dragged they solved it quickly lol.

Ohms Nuttachai • 1 year ago

They just add another drama on top of it but NVM. It's only one episode left lol

Jack • 1 year ago

And I doubt there's going to be a second season, if there is I'm totally out not gonna even bother XD.

Deus The Great • 1 year ago

Well, that actually what the author wanted people to think about Jonas.

I was actually surprise and glad that the love drama wouldn't drag on.

Randall ShadowDork • 1 year ago

Considering how Jonas has been quite harsh to Anne through this series from stealing her submission then using her as a scape goat to get out of the dukes abuse cause he was lacking in skill an mental fortitude.
So Jonas uncle knew about some of what his nephew did to Anne so he was more inclinded to think what he was told was true an not second guess it.

Nan Demo K(Nai)ves • 1 year ago

That family is just full of rotten individuals, Sammy uses this to get Jonas expelled? Pinning the blame on him. Then Radcliffe not even believing the victim when she has no reason to falsely put the blame on Sammy, she just went through something traumatic, her life as a crafter would have been irrecoverable and he still doubts her words? It's so stupid.

I liked Anne's candy, it looked really good and the meaning behind it is so powerful, I am sure the royal family will like it because it will resonate very strongly with them.

Randall ShadowDork • 1 year ago

Sammy used build up good faith with the old man to get away with his lie. Jonas who already been known to cause trouble for Anne was perfect scape goat for it.
The uncle is pretty much blinded by the loyalty of his appentice to point if Sammy killed someone an said it was someone else who killed them, he would have belived Sammy even if Sammy had told him while had blood all over himself.

Annes works are more than beautiful they have deeper feelings to them that make you feel like your seeing something that not make out of simple sugar an food coloring

Noah Winns-Cromer • 1 year ago

One more episode to go!

Thank Christ we're almost done with all the needless dramatic bulls***!

ramenmen • 1 year ago

Totally agree, too much drama seriously, just focus on the damn silver sugar, this anime would be a lot more wholesome without drama in freaking each and every episode

Farouk Khettab • 1 year ago

If I find out that they switched her silver sugar next episode, Imma seriously lose it.

Chindian • 1 year ago

I think Mithril saying he can taste the difference in quality of the sugar is a bit of foreshadowing

kurdbubbles • 1 year ago

Sigh* annoying side characters as always.

KuroroSama42 • 1 year ago
Jonas: Tries getting married to Anne.
Also Jonas: Literally tried to kill Anne by throwing blood at her to attract... was it wolves? Monsters?
Also Jonas: "I hate her too, but burning her hands is going too far!"

This plot continues to be full of more holes than a sieve. But the art and character interactions are quite nice, so it's still worth a watch.

Chindian • 1 year ago

you missed Jonas holding Mithril hostage so he could have Anne take his place to escape the Duke

Randall ShadowDork • 1 year ago

you forgot hey let me threaten this friend of yours, get rid of your bodyguard friend an make this crazy Duke take you as his artisan slave so i can be free cause i lack talent and skill cause thought that was passed won through blood by default.
